I’ve always loved plants, flowers, gardening, and being outside. I feel like I’m always so busy with so many things, but in 2024 I decided to do something that I would really enjoy. Starting a cut flower farm incorporates multiple things I love- like flowers and being outside! It’s a chance to watch something I help create become something beautiful that can be enjoyed not just by me, but by many others as well.

Flowers tend to make people happy. I love that I can help brighten someone’s day. I offered flowers at the end of our driveway on a makeshift farmstand and also by request.

In the winter of 2024/2025, I had more time to plan what I wanted to incorporate for the 2025 growing season. Hint….. it was a plan to add a lot more!

For 2025 I am growing so many more varieties flowers than last year. I know a lot of people have zinnias and cosmos. They are great and I will have a bunch. However, I wanted to offer flowers that most people don’t grow themselves and that would offer a different experience for people.

Another huge idea that I have for this year (and future years) is adding fresh fruits with lots of health benefits. It's hard to find a variety of specialty fruits locally that are fresh and raised right here in SE, not shipped in from somewhere else in the world. I am planting loganberry, honeyberry, artic kiwi, and gogi berries this year. I’m also hoping to expand our fruit orchard to the point that I will be able to offer common fruits as well. Fruits take a couple years to really produce, so this is an investment and dream for the future!
